Special Occasion

One of the most important dates in Brunei's calendar is the Birthday of His Majesty on every 15th July. It is a special occasion with activities and festivities of cultural performance, sporting, charity events, food bazaars and more followed by an inauguration ceremony held at the Istana Nurul Iman palace. So as the fireworks can be seen at this time. There are many different stalls which have different taste of satay, soto and all those preseved fruits like jaruk lobak and kedundong and also a popular food amongst the local which is only available during this event is sotong tutuk ( smoked squid).

Ramadhan  is a holy month where there are 'Gerai Bazaar Ramadhan' held at this time. It is another special occassion in Brunei which marks the beginning of fasting for all muslims. Visitors hould note that some businesses may operate an abbreviated  schedules during this time. There are many stalls and restaurants offering a wide range of food available until the end day of absentinence.

After one month fasting, we will be celebrating 'Hari Raya Aidilfitri' where all the muslims start to seek for forgiveness with each others. Visitors should not miss this special occassion because here is your opportunity to join us celebrating it. it is one of the most awaited events where everyone is wearing a set of the traditional Malay attrire  and attend at least one open house and taste all different types of cakes and biskuits. This is the most enjoyment mont for children because they will get a green envelope called 'Angpow' containing a money of B$1.00 to B$5.00 from each houses.
